2010
2010 was a jam packed year. I can't remember a busier year in my life.
- A year ago I was engaged. Now I'm married to the love of my life. Liz and I married on June 19, 2010.
- A year ago I had not read the Harry Potter books. I think I'll have the first 5 or 6 done by Jan 1 2011.
- A year ago I thought I'd finish grad school this December. It didn't happen. I'm finishing in May 2011.
- A year ago I hadn't seen the Golden Gate bridge. Liz and I walked across the bridge on our honeymoon near San Francisco.
- A year ago I had never been displaced. A water heater broke in our apartment in October and flooded it. We lived in a hotel for a couple of weeks and made it through, really only experiencing a major inconvienence.
- A year ago I tried growing a beard and failed. This year I gave it more time and had my first beard!
- A year ago I had little clue what Forkland and Ham Days were. This year my grandfather-in-law was the Grand Marshal of Ham Days and we had a great time at Forkland.
- A year ago I checked my work e-mail from a server in our data center. In August Murray State University converted all students, faculty, and staff to Google Apps for Education.
- 10 years ago I hadn't beaten Zelda: The Ocarina of Time. My brother-in-law gave me a N64 and the game. I beat it in November.
- A year ago I hadn't gone camping outside of Boy Scouts. My neighbor, wife, and a few friends went camping in LBL in October (before the apartment flood).
- A year ago I hadn't bought food from my local farmer's market. This summer we bought all kinds of fresh food from the local market.
- A year ago I was an iPhone user. We abandoned AT&T in August for Verizon.
- A year ago I had never been sick on Christmas. This year, my mother in-law, brother in-law and I all got an awful stomach virus right around Christmas. Mine started the evening of Christmas eve.
- A year ago I didn't have any IT certifications. In May, I got my VMware VCP4 certification.
